Year 2

Hi,

I’m Mrs Fort and I teach Palm class in Year 2.

I am a massive Disney fan and all things Disney bring a smile to my face. I love animals, particularly cats. I have 4, including two big fluffy maine coons. I like to relax by spending time with my family, listening to music and I love to settle down and get lost in a good book. I feel at home in the water and keep fit by swimming a couple of times a week. I regularly spend my weekends travelling around the local football pitches watching my daughters play football.

Hello!

I’m Mrs Walton. I have been teaching for ten years and I think it’s the best job in the whole world. I love that no two days are the same - life in a school is always so fun and Ramsey is no exception! I teach Silver Birch class in Year 2. My favourite things in the world are reading, playing with my children, bright colours and being creative. I love being part of a school which champions kindness in the way it does.

Hello,

I’m Miss Mortlock and I teach Lilac Class in Year 2. It’s wonderful to be part of such a caring and fantastic team and school. I love reading stories out loud and my favourite story is always changing because there are so many fantastic books to choose from. At the moment I am enjoying “Saving Mr Hoot” and “Pip and Egg”. In my spare time I like relaxing and creative activities. I particularly enjoy listening to music, yoga, learning how to draw, and learning how to make things out of clay.

Our fabulous TAs are Miss Masterson and Mrs Mitchell. They are both amazing at working with children.

At the moment we are really enjoying our topic called Land Ahoy! We have explored this topic in a range of subjects from English to Geography and everything in between! We are learning about habitats in Science and will be looking at food chains, adaptations and what all living things need to survive.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday where we enjoy working with a sports coach and class teachers.

We love reading at our school and make sure we change our books weekly- we do this on a Friday.

We’re also very lucky to visit our beautiful library one day a week too to pick out a Reading for Pleasure book which we take home and enjoy.

One of our favourite things is sharing homework and it always goes on display to show everyone what we’ve been up to. We put the date to bring in the homework children have done so far on our homework menu.

We have started learning about multiplication and division and we’ve really enjoyed demonstrating our skills on TT Rockstars.

Year 2 have started learning about Magnificent Monarchs! They have explored Kings and Queens throughout history and have looked at their royal residences, how they used their power and looked at their portraits. Using their portraits the children observed the monarch's facial expression, pose, what they were holding and thought about the reason why such a portrait was created. Children also looked at different monarch's coats of arms in the past and present and designed their own.
