EYFS

Hi,

I’m Miss Phillips and I teach Cherry class and I love teaching. I really enjoy sharing experiences with all the children and making learning fun, exciting and challenging, so everyone has a great day everyday, we are a family and we look after each other. When I’m not at school I love spending time with my family and my two dogs. They are both rescue dogs from Qatar and Romania and they enjoy going for walks and visiting different places, just like me!

Hello,

I’m Mrs Marshall and I am teaching in Pear class.

I love to be active and have fun. You can often find me going out for walks with my family especially if there is a big hill I can climb. I love to see new places and learn new things. I love to bring excitement and challenge to the classroom through games and imaginative tasks. We often jet off in class on our magic carpet to learn about new places and books, whilst having lots of fun.

Hello,

I am Miss Miller and I work Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Holly Class. I love building strong relationships with the children in my class and getting to know everyone’s likes and interests so that I can ensure learning is fun, supportive and engaging. When I am not in school I love spending time with my little girl. We enjoy being outside, getting messy and having fun adventures. I always aim to bring fun and excitement to the classroom too!

The teaching assistants who support across Foundation Stage are Mrs Richards, Mrs Lilley, Mrs McMullen, Miss Abraham and Mrs Gambling.

This half term our topic is Ready, Steady, Grow. We will be learning about farming, growing, baby animals, all about vegetables and fruits too. More information about our curriculum can be found on our topic web.

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.

Children in Foundation Stage will have a ‘decodable’ reading book which is carefully selected by the class teacher and linked to the sound the child is being taught. This book goes home on a Monday and should be changed once a week.

As a school we promote re-reading of fully decodable books three times a week for decoding, fluency, comprehension and prosody.

Children also take home a reading for pleasure book each week. This is a book the child chooses from the library on a Friday and enjoys reading at home with others.

On a weekly basis children will bring home the phonemes and common exception words we have been learning in phonics that week. They can use these to practise reading, making words and even sentences at home.

Throughout the year challenges are set for the children to complete with their families on tapestry or sent home for fun.
