Year 1
Hi,
My name is Miss Rout and I am teaching Pine class this year.
My favourite subjects are Science and Maths. I love all things Disney and I am a big fan of Lilo and Stitch. I love to travel and visit new countries during the holidays, especially hot countries! In my spare time I love to bake and watch films. My favourite books to read in school are ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’.
Hello there,
My name is Mrs Hancox and I’m teaching Apple Class this year.
I enjoy teaching lots of different things at school, but English and RE are my favourite. I really enjoy reading stories and learning about other cultures with my class. My favourite books to read to my class are “The Bog Baby” and “The book with no pictures”. I love animals and I have a black and white fluffy dog at home called Snoopy. I also love frogs and giraffes. On the weekends I enjoy long dog walks with my family and playing board games. During the holidays we enjoy holidays to the south of France. I like the warm weather, the French culture and especially the food.
Hello!
I’m Mrs Walton. I have been teaching for ten years and I think it’s the best job in the whole world. I love that no two days are the same - life in a school is always so fun and Ramsey is no exception! I teach Maple class in Year 1. My favourite things in the world are reading, playing with my children, bright colours and being creative. I love being part of a school which champions kindness in the way it does.
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.
Children in Year 1 will have a ‘decodable’ reading book which is carefully selected by the class teacher and linked to the sound the child is being taught. This book goes home on a Tuesday and should be changed once a week.
As a school we promote re-reading of fully decodable books three times a week for decoding, fluency, comprehension and prosody.
Children also take home a reading for pleasure book each week. This is a book the child chooses from the library and enjoys reading at home with others.
On a weekly basis children will bring home spelling words to practise, this will be based on the learning in phonics lessons or linked to common exception words.
Every half term, children have a selection of activities sent home which are linked to our learning in school. The children can choose different activities from the sheet - or think of their own - to share with their peers and teachers.
